Morning in the Village
Before lunch, a few of us walked around the village, handing out hats and chatting with the men. The kids were excited to get candy and tiny figurines of Jesus, and we also gifted the village a few soccer balls. The highlight of the morning was playing volleyball with the locals—we set up a net, played a lots of games, and left everything with them so they could keep the fun going.
Right before lunch, we had to leave quickly as a big storm was rolling in.
After the Storm
Once the quick storm passed, we started our journey back. Played some card games on board. Along the way, we stopped at a small river beach a quick swim. Severin’s grandmother had passed away last week, and today was her funeral back home. We took some time to honor her memory before jumping into the river for a quick swim.
One of the girls in our group decided to take an even bigger step—she got baptized right there in the Amazon River. Pretty incredible moment.
After that, I took a much-needed shower. I’ve been using the outdoor shower on the back of the boat, and honestly, it’s way better than the indoor ones. Nothing beats rinsing off while surrounded by the Amazon.
Arriving in Parintins
Once we reached Parintins, we visited a church that trains pastors who serve in remote villages.
We stopped at Brian’s favorite ice cream shop.
Gator Hunting? Maybe…
We might be going gator hunting again tonight. The plan is to take the small boat and separate from our big ship, but we’re still waiting ….
