Day 6, Biggest Village: Maranhåo

Today was very similar to the day before so I’ll keep it short and spend more time on differences.

  • Before Lunch: eye glass clinic again. Got to train some others. Gave out about 50 pairs to all ages. Had good conversation with an older woman who was confused about salvation – think she left with more peace. Ask me for more details.
  • Lunch: another day, another cow.
  • After Lunch: Men’s Ministry. Met with a group of men living in the village with some of my friends and the local pastor I mentioned yesterday. We spoke to the group about accepting Christ, how we all mess up and sin, and how one generation can change a chain of bad men in a family.
  • Evening: A village near Maranhåo had no water and they’d have to walk miles for water. So, Amazon Outreach dug them a well which was completed 3 days ago. My friend Brian’s in-laws funded this well. They both passed away late last year. Today we dedicated the well to the village and revealed it’s named after his in-laws.
  • After Dinner: some of us went gator hunting, basically riding around the Amazon tributaries with only flashlights looking for glowing eyes. No luck though. We did see some crazy bats though.
