Day 2 recap: We’ve spent all day on the boat. Everyone was mostly napping until lunch at noon. The fresh fruit is so good on the boat. After lunch, we met our translators, cooks, and boat crew. Then we began to organize and prepare for our first village tomorrow. We put together medicine packs with mostly pain relief including children’s meds. We did take a quick break to watch the second half of the Hogs beating St John’s. Meatballlllls for dinner. That’s what I’m talking about!
We should get to Parintins (pronounced pair in jeans) around midnight tonight and dock there until morning. Then heading to the first village first thing in the morning.
It’s amazing to see how big this river is. Looking off the right side you might think you’re on the Mississippi but then you look left and there is 4 times the distance to the bank than the left.
Oh yeah, I haven’t seen one yet but people have been seeing pink dolphin (a river dolphin that lives in fresh water).

[late night update] A short rain popped up while we were sleeping. Luckily Severin and some of our Brazilian friends got up to tie down the tarps that shield the decks from the rain. By the time I jumped in there was only a few strings left to tie down. Lots of stuff is soaked; glad I brought a hard shell bag. Whew! Pretty sure my buddies Johnny and Brian slept right through it. Ha!
